In 2011, Vauxhall outperformed potential competition by taking a stunning 60% share of UK commercial vehicle sector production.

As by far largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in the UK, we generate the bulk of our commercial vehicle production at our Luton site, accounting for around 57% of total industry volume with Vivaro-type vans.

As well as making Vauxhall top the UK commercial vehicle retail charts in 2011, our Vivaro van plant in Luton manufactures bespoke high quality vehicles for UK customers. Teaming up with Ellesmere Port, where the Astravan is built, Luton also has an export story to tell with over 64% of its vehicles bound for Europe last year.

Luton’s Plant Director, Mark Stein, says: “Responsibility for the majority of the UK’s industry volume in van manufacturing is a huge achievement and I heartily congratulate our excellent workforce for their commitment and dedication. Building on Vauxhall’s more than 100-year history, we are now looking forward to an exciting future with the next generation Vivaro going into production in less than two years.”
