Wednesday 6 June was a great day for employees at Vauxhall Motors, lead sponsor of home nations football. The England football squad visited our headquarters in Luton before flying out to Krakow, Poland, for Euro 2012.
As the England coach pulled up on Osborne Road, Vauxhall Motors staff gathered in Reception to welcome the team. Roy Hodgson, Ray Lewington and Gary Neville led the players into the building as Vauxhall Motors’ staff wished them luck in the championships – and in their first fixture against France on Monday 11 June 2012 at the Donbass Arena, Donetsk.
Captain Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney and the squad posed for pictures with Vauxhall staff and the award-winning Vauxhall Ampera, and signed a special commemorative autograph board during the visit.
Robert Parker, Forecasting Manager at Vauxhall Motors, said, “It was a privilege to meet the England squad before they travel out to represent us in Poland and the Ukraine. Football fever is definitely alive and kicking at Vauxhall Motors. We’ll be supporting the team through all their fixtures and we’re looking forward to their first game.”
Vauxhall Football TV will be keeping supporters up to date with what's going on in the England camp with daily broadcasts from Poland and Ukraine. Follow Vauxhall Football TV at www.vauxhallfootball.co.uk/England2012.
The visit coincided with the launch of Vauxhall Motors’ home nations football TV advert. ’Supporting a Nation’ features current members of the England football squad, football fans and Vauxhall staff from the Vauxhall Ellesmere Port production facility in Merseyside, the home of the Vauxhall Astra.
The new advert focuses on the England team as they prepare for a major fixture. It reflects on how fans stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the players, supporting the team and bringing the nation together.
