Vauxhall Motors recently achieved the prestigious Investors in People Standard across all UK sites, demonstrating its commitment to employees as well as excellent practice across the organisation.
Phil Millward, human resources director at Vauxhall, said: “I am delighted to see Vauxhall recognised as a high-performing organisation across all its UK operations. The award recognises our continued focus on people-engagement and our objective to be a workplace of choice for all employees. The Investors in People framework has easily run alongside our internal programmes and we look forward to building upon our award in the future.”
Chris Jones, head of operations at IDG, the Investors in People centre for the north of England said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Vauxhall Motors and I would like to congratulate the team on their commitment to continuously improve in the pursuit of excellence.”
“As the official partner for Investors in People in the north of England, we work with organisations of all sizes and sectors to improve, develop and grow. By offering a flexible, practical and easy-to-use framework, Investors in People can help to enhance performance and, as demonstrated by its accreditation success, Vauxhall Motors with its highly skilled and capable workforce is clearly working to do this.”
Vauxhall has been manufacturing vehicles in the UK continuously since 1903. Its range spans all mainstream sectors of the vehicle market, with best-selling model names such as Corsa, Astra, Meriva, Zafira and Insignia regularly in the top ten of the sales charts. Vauxhall is also the largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles in the UK and its parent company General Motors’ fourth-largest global market.
The company employs approximately 5,000 people in the UK and exports three-quarters of its production. Company headquarters is in Luton, Bedfordshire, where Vauxhall manufactures the Vivaro light commercial vehicle. A second plant at Ellesmere Port in Cheshire produces the Astra.
Vauxhall Motors recently joined over 25,000 other organisations working with Investors in People across the UK and can now display the sought-after Investors in People logo and enjoy the benefits of working with the framework.
