There are few football rivalries more passionate than England V’s Scotland, but the excitement of August’s Wembley International reached new levels, thanks to Vauxhall.
As the climax to the Vauxhall ‘Design an ADAM Competition’, two intrepid fans were selected to represent their country and face each other in a nail-biting penalty shoot out.
As you’d expect from Vauxhall, the prize was pretty exciting too. A gleaming new ADAM created by their football heroes.
England stars Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard , Daniel Sturridge, Sophie Bradley and Jill Scott, plus Scotland’s Robert Snodgrass, Barry Bannan and Gary Mackay-Steven, went to town with ADAM’s customizable options, to create a unique prize.
When the half-time whistle blew, Scotland’s Ronnie Young and England’s Nicholas Tedder nervously walked onto the famous Wembley turf. Then, watched by over 80,000 screaming fans including 20 lucky ADAM competition runners-up, the contestants battled it out against celebrity goalkeepers Robert Douglas and Dave Beasant.
It was a close run thing but in the end Scotland beat England to the ADAM prize. And although England won the actual game 3-2 the smiling face of triumphant Scot, Ronnie Young said it all.
“Stepping out at Wembley and winning a penalty shoot out for Scotland against the auld enemy is something I could have only dreamt about, but it has come true tonight and I am very grateful to Vauxhall for making it happen.”
He went on to say: “I am gutted that we lost to England tonight but to win a brand new ADAM certainly helps to make up for it.”
One thing’s for sure: whether it’s high road or low road, he’s loving his new ADAM.
