The Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair returned to the heart of Shoreditch on Sunday 14th June with a fresh line-up of artists and brand new entertainment including Dog in a Boot Show, Vauxhall Art Car Bonnets and Daylight Cabaret. A mix of established and up-and-coming artists personally pitched up at the Brick Lane Yard to sell their original and limited edition works of art out of the back of new and vintage Vauxhall cars.
There were a few familiar faces, including Tracey Emin, True Rocks with Rachel Howard, Polly Morgan, Gavin Turk, Ben Eine, Pam Hogg, Bob and Roberta Smith, Marcus Harvey and Turps Banana and Kristijana Williams. New artists included Lisa Milroy, Dolores de Sade, Barry Reigate, Elli Popp and Holly Allan.
This year a select number of artists including Rachel Howard, Ben Eine, Matt Small and Oishin Bryne created art pieces using Vauxhall car bonnets as their canvas.
Denis Chick, Director of Communications at Vauxhall Motors said, “The Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair has a special place in our event calendar, showcasing the best of British art and for one-day only, making it accessible to anyone and everyone. It also gives us a chance to ‘fire up’ our fabulous Vauxhall heritage fleet.”
The Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair is an art-buying frenzy filled with English eccentricity, cool art, eclectic wares and madcap performances from the moment the doors open. And there’s something for every pocket, with works typically on sale for between £10 and £1,000, don’t miss it.
