Environmental certification

In 2013, General Motors was the first automobile manufacturer among 40 major US companies to sign a declaration asserting that responding to climate change is not only a common-sense responsibility, but good business.

The declaration’s signatories call for policymakers to tackle climate change by promoting clean energy, boosting efficiency and limiting carbon emissions – strategies that GM already employs in its operations.

Vauxhall UK Ltd holds IS0 14001 environmental management certificates for its manufacturing sites and warehouse. We also monitor our suppliers’ compliance to ISO 14001 standards. The three basic requirements for an ISO 14001 certificate are:

  • Observance of all relevant legislation
  • The prevention of pollution
  • Continual improvement.

In 2013, the Ellesmere Port Plant also retained its Wildlife Habitat Council Certification, which recognises initiatives to conserve wildlife habitats on corporate land.
