All Insignia models will feature a USB connection within the centre armrest as standard equipment – perfect for those who enjoy listening to their favourite tracks stored on their MP3 players, or for charging mobile phones.
In addition, an exciting all-new BiTurbo diesel engine – the 2.0CDTi 16v (195PS) BiTurbo Start/Stop is to be introduced. This premium engine will be available for both hatchback and Sports Tourer models, including 4X4 variants, and covering both the SRi and SRi VX-Line model lines.
The same powertrain (less the Start/Stop feature) will also be available for Elite models – with automatic transmission and front-wheel drive only.
Start/Stop technology has helped keep the CO2 emissions low, with the manual hatchbacks having emissions of just 129g/km – rising to 146g/km for the 4X4 models. The Sports Tourers have CO2 levels of 134g/km and 149g/km respectively.
There are some innovative new options too. The Front Camera System not only offers Traffic Sign Recognition and Lane Departure Warning, but also Following Distance Indication and Forward Collision Alert. Also included in the package is a heat-reflective windscreen and an enhanced Driver Display instrument screen. This new option will be available on SRi, SE and Elite models, with Adaptive Forward Lighting mandated.
Another innovation is the Adaptive Cruise Control option – available with the Front Camera System on both manual and automatic transmissions. The system allows the driver to maintain a selected speed, or a selected gap setting between their vehicle and the one ahead.
From January 2012, a selection of models that only sell in particularly low volumes have been removed from production. Please click here for a full list of deleted models.
