Vauxhall has announced an entry-level version of their multi-award winning Ampera Extended-Range Electric Vehicle: the Ampera Earth will have a transaction price of £29,995 to customers, after taking into account the Government’s £5,000 Plug-in Car Grant.
The Ampera Earth remains packed with features including; alloy wheels, DAB digital radio, USB, Bluetooth®, cruise control, four driving modes, seven-inch colour touch-screen control for climate control, audio functions, charging regime and vehicle/personal configuration to name but a few – it will come as no surprise that the options list is very short. In fact it only extends to the exterior paintwork: standard is Black, while Summit White, Crystal Red and Sovereign Silver are available at extra-cost.
The “walk-up” from Earth trim to Positiv and Electron includes leather seat facings and heated front seats (in lieu of cloth trim and non-heated seats) plus rear view camera with parking distance sensors, leather-covered steering wheel and rear centre armrest. The drivetrain remains identical. Earth’s on-the-road RRP of £34,995 represents a saving of at least £2,255
Order banks are open now, with delivery planned from September 2012.
