Unveiling the EXTREME version of the Astra VXR at the Geneva Motor Show certainly set the pulse of ‘hot hatch’ enthusiasts racing – the specification is very closely based on the 2013 Astra Cup race car. And that’s no hype:

  • 300+PS 2.0 litre turbo engine with direct injection and variable camshaft phasing.
  • Carbon-fibre mouldings for the rear wing, diffuser, front spoiler, bonnet, suspension cross bracing, engine cover, wheels, rear wheel housing ventilation and roof
  • Weight slashed by 100kg from the use of carbon-fibre plus aluminium wings and the removal of rear seats
  • 370mm diameter front disc brakes with Brembo six-piston calipers
  • Specially-developed, high-grip, 19-inch 245/35 tyres
  • Adjustable suspension damping
  • Safety roll bar replaces the rear seats
  • Recaro front bucket seats with six-point safety harness

With its lowered centre of gravity, incredible power-to-weight ratio, ultra-grippy tyres and race-inspired handling, EXTREME’s natural habitat is the track... but if public reaction is positive, Vauxhall plans a low-volume production run.
