Make Sure You Beat the Tax

Did you know. as of April 1 2017 the way a new car's Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) is calculated is changing? So, this is the ideal time to get a new Corsa Limited Edition. The Corsa Limited Edition 1.4i 75PS from £172 per month with £3,956 advanced rental, over 36 months*.

So what's going to change? With the exception of zero emission vehicles** and commercial vehicles, new cars registered from April 1 2017 will have new VED bandings applied.

How can Vauxhall help? Contact Vauxhall today to find out more about the changes to the VED, also known as road fund tax. We can offer expert guidance and advice on how to purchase a new Vauxhall in time to beat the new VED increases taking effect on April 1.

Current New Car VED Process:

  • VED banding costs are based on the CO2 emissions of a vehicle
  • The higher the CO2 emissions the higher the VED costs
  • The VED costs are split in two, a first year rate, followed by a standard rate for subsequent years
  • The first year rate and standard rate are both related to a vehicle's CO2 emissions.

April 1 New Car VED Process:

  • There will still be two bandings, a first year rate and standard rate
  • The first year rate will again be related to a car's CO2 emissions value
  • The Standard rate will relate to the list price of the vehicle**
  • Vehicles with a list price of less than £40,000 will have a standard rate of £140.

How could this affect you financially?

As an example of the forthcoming VED changes, a Vauxhall Corsa 1.4i 75PS Limited Edition with a combined CO2 figure of 120g/km will see the first year VED increase from £0 to £160, with a subsequent annual standard rate increase from £30 to £140.
