Vauxhall and General Motors have a clear and comprehensive strategy for the development of environmentally friendly product technologies:
GM strongly believes in the electrification of the automobile and, eventually, a combination with fuel-cell propulsion systems. To bridge the way there, we are developing vehicle technologies to leverage a number of different pathways combined with varying degrees of electrification, enabling us to drive down emissions, reduce dependence on foreign energy sources and cut transport related CO2 emissions on a source-to-wheel basis.
Vauxhall today offers a range of 120-140 CO2 g/km vehicles. In particular, Vauxhall Agila, Corsa, Tigra and Astra are all available with emissions at or below 130 g/km CO2.
As parent company to Vauxhall, General Motors Corporation has a clear and comprehensive Energy Management Policy for all its manufacturing sites across the world, and consistently monitors energy, water, CO2 and solvent emissions standards.
Between 2000 and 2005, General Motors reduced energy consumption across its worldwide facilities by 14.8%. Over the same period, it reduced CO2 emissions from these facilities by 15.5%. Between 2005 and 2010, the company's objective is to reduce CO2 emissions from its global facilities by an additional 8%, and energy consumption by a further 10%.
