The Vauxhall Ampera was conceived, designed and developed with practicality in mind. So to drive an Ampera, you don’t have to change your driving habits, needs or preferences.

The Vauxhall Ampera has five doors, seats four in comfort, has plenty of useful luggage space, and – thanks to its on-board generator – will never leave you stranded. It's a change for the better.

The Ampera comes with everything you need for charging at home, at the office or out and about. The state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery can be recharged from a 240 V / 10A power supply in about six hours*. The portable charge cord pack is equipped with LED indicators that illuminate green or flashing red to identify the charge cord status.
Just plug the standard charging cord and vehicle plug into any standard wall socket and store it in the boot when you’re done.

With the Vauxhall Ampera you can go 25 to 50 miles on battery power alone. When the battery's energy runs out, a petrol-fuelled 1.4 ECOTEC® engine-generator with 86PS extends that range by a further 310 miles on a full tank of fuel by sustaining battery capacity for the vehicle's electric drive system until you can plug in and recharged the car, or refuel it.
This distinguishes the Ampera from electric-only vehicles which can't be operated when recharging is not immediately available – such as during a power interruption or on a long-distance trip.

You can switch on the electronic climate control (ECC) system remotely to heat or cool the car while it's connected to the mains, or to turn on the heated seats. The remote control key has an extended range so you can start preheating the cabin from your breakfast table, if the car’s not parked too far away.

While driving the Vauxhall Ampera with the shifter in L position, lifting the foot off the accelerator automatically activates generator braking. In situations such as downhill or city driving, the stopping power is efficient enough to provide all the braking power you need. At the same time the recaptured energy charges the battery. So it's a win/win situation for both comfort and efficiency.

*Before charging at home with the standard charge cable, ensure that the capacity of the electrical circuit and socket that you intend to use has been inspected and approved by a qualified electrician. You can charge at higher amps, but only with the optional home charge station or other charging point/socket, which must be installed by a qualified electrician. The recharging time with the home-charger (16Amps) will be around four hours (under average temperature conditions).
