Sales Consultant Job Overview

Typically, a sales consultant will:
- Maintain and develop relationships with customers, over the phone and by setting appointments
- Prospect for new business at every opportunity, and follow up leads
- Recognise and understand customers' needs so that they get exactly the right vehicle for them
- Maintain up-to-date product knowledge, and create and emphasise unique selling points for individual prospects
- Present and sell additional products and packages
- Negotiate the terms of sale and close each transaction
- Know about competitor products and be prepared to highlight the advantages of Vauxhall products over them
- Encourage test drives and demonstrations
- ‘Up-sell’ at every opportunity, without overselling
- Match expectations and delivery
- Review your own sales performance, aiming to exceed targets and for the best profit in any sale
- Work with others to keep cars well-presented, inside the showroom and on the forecourt
- Source vehicles for customers using the appropriate processes.
