Vauxhall factories and a car

Fuel technology

We’re pioneering some exciting new fuel technology at Vauxhall. Ground-breaking innovations include our renowned ecoFLEX engines, our EURO 6-compliant BlueInjection engines and the extended-range electric Ampera.

Vauxhall ecoFLEX

Vauxhall ecoFLEX technology consists of a lot of small, clever changes that add up to a big increase in overall efficiency – without ever compromising driving enjoyment. It involves significant improvements to our cars’ fuel systems. And it also means eliminating other hidden drags on fuel consumption by improving aerodynamics, refining gearing and re-engineering tyre profiles.

Our range of ecoFLEX vehicles includes 264 passenger cars, with CO2 emissions ranging from 88g/km to119g/km, and 31 commercial vehicles, with emissions from 88g/km-199g/km.

We’re especially proud of our new Insignia ecoFLEX (120/140PS) model, which is not only the lowest CO2 emitting car in its sector (C02 emissions are just 98g/km and 76.3mpg on a combined cycle) but also the most streamlined.

Efficient petrol engines

The Vauxhall ADAM is the first model to be fitted with our new 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. The 90PS version gives the ADAM a combined-cycle fuel-consumption as low as 62mpg, with CO2 emissions of just 99g/km. This new engine is the first in our range of new powertrains, with three new engine families and 13 new engines launching by 2016.
