Vauxhall has been certified as one of Britain’s Top Employers 2012 by the Corporate Research Foundation Institute. It comes as no surprise to the people at Vauxhall who already know it’s a great place to work.
The key to being a top employer is offering career opportunities. Take Managing Director Duncan Aldred: “I joined Vauxhall straight from Liverpool Poly and 18 years later I’m the MD.”
As Vauxhall HR Director Phil Millward explains, “We want to be the best, and for that we need to attract and retain the best people. We’re not going to do that unless we reward, engage, enthuse and empower them, and make them feel that they own this business as much as Duncan and I do.”
Recruitment scam warning
Some people have reported receiving job offers that falsely claim to come from Vauxhall Motors. These fraudulent offers usually come in unsolicited emails that ask for personal information or even money in exchange for processing a job application.
We are currently working to prevent this illegal activity. Meanwhile, please ensure all personal information – such as your address, CV, passport number and bank details – is kept strictly confidential.
We will never make employment offers through unsolicited emails or ask for money as part of the application process. If you receive a suspicious email, don’t reply – instead contact careers@vauxhall.co.uk and we’ll confirm if the email is genuine.

Our apprenticeships operate within the following 3 areas:
Engineering
Daniel Johnson – General Assembly, Ellesmere Port:
“The benefits of being an automotive apprentice are being able to work within a multi-skilled maintenance team, responding to machinery breakdowns. I am a technical expert, trained to use and repair specialised equipment bespoke to the company. I also gain exposure to other areas of the business, liaising with wider teams has provided an opportunity to develop my social and communication skills.“
Vehicle technicians
Matthew Allen – Technical Centre, Luton:
“Doing this apprenticeship has improved my skills incredibly; it has also helped with confidence in the working place and has reassured me on what I want to do as a future career. To anyone who is considering an apprenticeship I would highly recommend that they try their hardest to get one as it is one of the best decisions I have made.”
Business and administration
Zoe Peacock – Fleet Sales, Vauxhall Corporate Headquarters, Luton:
“Highlights of my apprenticeship so far are that my role varies every time I am here which is always interesting and means I am always learning. I enjoy meeting new people and seeing the successes of the team. I did not expect to be treated as a valid and important member of the workforce.”
