The Vauxhall team is made up of thousands of people across the country, all working together to bring our innovative vehicles to you.
Around 35,000 people work with us in total and 4,500 of them have jobs at our plants in Ellesmere Port and our warehouse and head office in Luton., That leaves 23,000 people working in our Retail Network and 7,000 people working in our UK supply chain, providing the millions of parts and essential services we offer every day.
Our Luton Plant builds the Vauxhall Vivaro, producing a whopping 57,000 units a year. The new model has won a load of awards with Trade Van, Business Van Manager and What Van? And it’s even been honoured in the What Van? “Hall of Fame”. It’s a huge achievement for the entire Luton team.
Known as the ‘Home of the Astra’, our Ellesmere Port Plant has produced 6 generations of Astras. And during 2015, it will start to produce the 7th generation, along with the Sports Tourer model in 2016. About 1,826 people work in the 1,209,366m2 site, building up to 148,854 new Astras every year.
In 1995, Ellesmere Port was the first manufacturing facility in the UK to be awarded the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard. And it has seen a reduction in energy consumption of 53% since 2004. So it’s no wonder the team helped us become the first UK manufacturer to receive the Energy Efficiency Accreditation Award in 2008. We were also awarded a Green Apple and Green Ambassador status by the Green Organisation in 2014 for our campaign to raise environmental awareness internally.
