Innovation comes naturally to the many engineers, thinkers, designers and experts that create every Vauxhall. In fact, we're always on the lookout for ideas that will make our cars smarter than others. Here are some examples of how we make driving a greener, safer and more superior experience with every new Vauxhall we produce.

AFL makes night driving safer and less stressful by enhancing visibility through curves and sharp bends. The movable elements in the intelligent, bi-xenon headlights automatically adjust themselves to different conditions, ensuring safer and more relaxed driving. Nine different light functions make the best of every situation, improving road illumination by up to 90% – without dazzling other drivers.
FlexRide® is our adaptive stability system. It responds instantly to data collected from every chassis and drive component – including continuous damping control (which adjusts the damper settings in real time), four-channel anti-lock braking with electronic brake-force distribution, traction control and electronic stability programme (ESP) – to communicate continuously to support your chosen driving mode.
Voltec is our revolutionary extended-range electric vehicle (E-REV) technology. For primary power, E-REVs use electricity provided by a rechargeable battery to travel up to 50 miles – at normal speed and acceleration – all without using a drop of petrol. When the battery’s exhausted, a fuel-powered engine kicks in to create additional electricity to power the car for hundreds of miles more. The stunning Vauxhall Ampera is an example of an E-REV.
The battery pack powers the electric drive unit, which powers the car for up to 50 miles – at normal speed and acceleration –without using any petrol. After 50 miles, when the battery reaches its minimum level of charge an on-board range extender, in the form of a petrol-powered engine, creates additional electricity to power the car for hundreds of additional miles. With this kind of engine, there’s no need to worry about the car’s batteries running down.
