For the last 15 years, Rob Wilson has trained some of the world’s top F1 drivers, including Valtteri Bottas, Kimi Raikkonen and Nico Hulkenberg. His training car is none other than a standard, Brit-built Vauxhall Astra.
Now you can get behind the wheel of Rob’s Astra in a 360°, interactive F1 driving lesson. For the full throttle experience, make sure you’re viewing this page on the latest version of Google Chrome, Firefox or Microsoft Edge.
Rob helps F1 drivers shave split seconds off their lap times from his base at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground in South Leicestershire. Take a look at Rob and his Astra in action.
So of all the production cars Rob could have chosen over the past 15 years, why has he opted for an Astra?
‘The Astra will do everything that an F1 car does dynamically, just at a far lower speed,’ said Rob. ‘This allows me to explain the physics behind what the car is doing out on the track in real time, which I’d never manage in a performance car.’
Find out what else Rob has to say about the all-new Vauxhall Astra in his interview.
