Shortly after picking the car up we drove down to Newquay for a holiday and the car was a comfortable drive. For everyone in the car. It accelerates well, easily picking up speed in 6th gear fully laden (kids, luggage and Great Dane!) I had an email a couple of weeks ago from onstar diagnostics report with an update on the oil, tyre pressure, economy etc and it stated the car had done on average a whopping 107.06mpg!!The heated seats have been a godsend for my back, yes I know we've have scorching temperatures but the heat eases the pain, handy on long journeys. The onstar app is a great addition, ideal if you forget where you've parked the car! I'm still getting used to the vehicle but so far I'm happy with it. Albeit a few things I've become used to driving a VW or Seat that would be a welcome addition:-)
I've found the car light to drive, not holding the road very well and feels like it's drifting. More like driving a small old 1998 Fiat Siecento rather than a 2017 Astra estate. I've had the tracking checked and check the tyre pressure regularly, all okay. It doesn't inspire confidence, and I'm already dreading the winter roads. There a couple of 'added luxuries' that I've missed with the car so far. Although the car is spacious inside there does seem a lack of practical storage spaces that I've become used to driving VW and Seat. The under Seat storage drawer was great for storing a cloth and squegy for clearing the windows etc (also my secret goodie stash away from the children) Not having even a small area in the centre console for storing your phone, a pen or tissues is missed and means I'm routing in the door pockets with the annoying sound of items sliding around while driving. I've also noticed the auto start-stop doesn't kick in if you stall the car, and it takes a few seconds to start back up when you've gone through the process of turning the key completely off, clutch down and ignition on again.. Frustrating when stood in traffic. I've found the 'media center' (what do you call it?) lacking. It seems like one I had in an 2011 Ford Fiesta not a 2017 Vauxhall. Come on Vauxhall up your game. The car is a nice comfortable drive, is responsive and extremely economical but lacking in the refinery you find in other comparable manufacturers.
