Vauxhall Insignia Country Tourer is Scotland's 4x4 of the Year

VAUXHALL INSIGNIA COUNTRY TOURER IS SCOTLAND'S 4X4 OF THE YEAR

03-Nov-18

Vauxhall’s top-of-the-range Insignia model has been recognised for its qualities at the Scottish Car of the Year Awards 2018, topping the ‘Best 4x4’ category. The Country Tourer was praised by Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW) judges for its suitability to Scotland’s rugged landscape, thanks to its intelligent all-wheel drive system, torque vectoring and bolstered ground clearance.

The Insignia Country Tourer sports all-round black protective cladding with silver front and rear skid plates to give a tough and rugged off-road appearance. With 20mm extra ground clearance compared to other Insignia models, the Country Tourer is the perfect cross-country companion, while all-new architecture makes the car more lightweight and spacious than ever before.

A state-of-the-art all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring is the best way to put high power on the road whether on wet, dry, icy or snow-covered surfaces. As a result, the Insignia Country Tourer is perfect for Scotland’s roads and unpredictable weather. Torque vectoring makes the car safer by controlling the distribution of torque according to changes in the road.

John Murdoch, President of the ASMW said: "Last year's Beast from the East resulted in Scotland having its worst winter for many years and the wise owners of four-wheel-drive vehicles were able to get around while others struggled. Some great new offerings in this sector were launched during the past year but Vauxhall's Insignia Country Tourer made it to the top of our shopping list. The Insignia Country Tourer offers a great blend of comfort, safety, space and style at a very reasonable price. Our members were also impressed by its overall ability and 4WD security."

Douglas McColm, Vauxhall’s Insignia Product Manager, said: “The Country Tourer has been a proven success in Scotland, and we are thankful for the recognition with this award win. Scottish drivers depend upon our car for its certainty and reliability in the worst weather conditions.”

The Insignia Country Tourer is on sale now, priced from £26,500 on-the-road.

According to latest available 2018 year-to-date figures, Vauxhall is Scotland's best-selling manufacturer with 18,328 cars sold, 1,593 ahead of its nearest rival. According to the Scottish Motor Trade Association, Vauxhall has been number one in Scotland for the last decade and the Corsa its best-selling car for eight out of the last nine years.
